CBA demands a Software Security Engineering capability that can support our talented Engineering, Cyber and Product teams.  We design, develop, build sustainable security services and tooling for our Diverse customers.

Using software, we aspire to improve effectiveness 10x to be able to face the sophisticated adversaries of Commbank. Running systems, we code solutions to ensure Provability and Confidence of our Products so our Customers data is Safe, Sound and Secure.

Your team 

As part of Group Security, that is responsible for end-to-end security technologies across the entire organisation, you will be joining an expanding security engineering team. This team is responsible for the development of robust and reliable security services and applications, reducing toil and ensuring product teams have access to security engineering capability.

Your contribution 

As a Senior Engineering Manager – you will be leading individuals that report to you, instilling a growth mindset and innovative ways of working. You’ll also play an important role in the Software Security Engineering leadership team, steering the group by contributing to the strategy and determining which problems to invest in solving.

 In your day-to-day role you will be responsible for:  

• Building, leading, and inspiring an engaged team of engineers and people while also fostering an engineering culture of excellence
• Are passionate to serve CommBank’s customers and translate the company’s vision into innovative solutions that balance quality, simplicity, maintainability, and performance
• Effectively communicating engineering practice standards and consistent ways of working across squads and CBA that align to global best practice
• Managing workforce planning and staff retention, creating a safe and trusted working environment where our engineers’ voices are heard
• Openly encouraging risk-taking and constructively challenge while growing diverse and inclusive teams

Your experience 

• Demonstrated leadership skills in managing engineering, with a track record of working
• Experience with large scale distributed systems, microservices and cloud technology
• Establish new ways of working and successfully advocated for new technology approaches
• Expertise to define and effectively communicate a long-term technical vision
• Drive cultural and process changes supporting modern delivery practices
• Ability to work across teams and influence great outcomes, and operate at times with ambiguity
• Constructively challenge the status quo while influencing stakeholders at various levels

• Experience in Cyber/Security Engineering and Product Engineering a plus
